Thanksgiving Everday

I find it very interesting that in our society today, we have set aside a certain day just to be thankful.  I mean think about it.  We cook a dinner, we get all of our families together, and we say grace and we go around the table saying what we are thankful for.  But why don't we do that everyday?  Why is it only one day of the year we truly make an effort to give thanks?  I bet Jesus loves our version of "Thanksgiving" because that is the day that most everyone says a prayer before they eat.  Thanking Him for providing in their lives.  And that whole day He is just soaking it all in.  All of His children giving Him thanks, recognizing Him for the things He has put in their lives.  We as humans really appreciate it when someone just stops and says, thanks you.   So why don't we do that to God?  The one who created us, and the one who is guiding our lives, who sent His son Jesus, to die on the cross so that we may live here on this earth and have our sins erased and a shot at eternal life.  That is more than any human could ever give, but yet we still don't give Him the glory He deserves.
You know, I pray that everyday will become "Thanksgiving", I pray that everyday we will give Him all the thanks for our lives.  I pray that we wont only talk to God 3 times a year (Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving), but every time we get a chance.  The next time you get a free moment, just send a prayer up to Heaven, and let our Heavenly Father know just how much you appreciate Him, and pray that you will draw close to Him in all circumstances.  Because He deserves our up most attention and thanks.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.
-1 Chronicles 16:34

Happy Thanksgiving (today, tomorrow, and all the days to come),

King of Anything...

No, I am not talking about that Sara Bareilles song here, I am talking about real life, important stuff...that you need to know!
As I have been observing myself and other people around me.  The one thing that I seem to always notice is the king in their life.  My definition to king would be something along the lines of anything that either controls you, consumes you, takes up a lot of time either in a good way or bad, makes you subject to change, basically whatever is the "ruler of your life".
What is the "king" in your life?  Is it video games? Computer games? Facebook? T.V.? Cell phones?  Homework?
What is something that takes up most of your time in a bad way?  Most importantly is the king in your life taking over what the real King should be? Are you missing out on family time because of the things of this world have you so trapped? Are you letting video games, or facebook take up your time so that when it is time to go to bed you quick say a prayer and tell God that you will read two chapters in the Bible tomorrow because you feel guilty.. if so, you need to rethink the "king" in your life.  If your "king" is not Jesus Christ, make it that.  He is a jealous God.  Do not let facebook, or television shows, or even the internet in general take up precious, precious time that you will never get back.  Limit your time, and make sure things are equally adding up.  If facebook hears more from you then your God then I think it is time you re-evaluate where your time goes.
Now for me the "king" in my life is not always God.  I am not perfect and a lot of the times I'll cram my day with so much stuff so that at the end of the day I'll be able to just relax and read my bible and spend time with God, but what actually happens is that I am so tired from doing everything that day, that the last thing I want to do is read my bible.  So just take time out of your day and spend it with the most High, will you?  The only real King in your life should be Jesus.  After all He deserves every bit of our short life on this Earth, because He is the one who gave it to us.

Destory the old "king", invite Jesus to be your new King,

Read slowly and two times over...

You know when something is just so great and you cannot find the right words to describe it.  Mainly because you are so excited that there are a million words popping up in your head that you know if you were to say those words it would not come close to how you are actually feeling.  And then sometimes when you do try to say those words they get all mixed up and they get slurred together.  It happens to me quite a bit, and I have witnessed it a lot, it is pretty amusing.  I feel like this should be our response to the way we feel about our Heavenly Father.  Sometimes I cannot even say His name, because it just is too precious, to say His name is a honor to me.  Right now I feel as though I would not be able to describe for you my love for God simply because He is just working so powerful in my life that the best thing for me to do and to keep responding to Him, love Him deeply no matter the situation, and to never settle in my relationship with Him.
It says in James 1:2, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance."  Do you consider it pure joy when you are in a trial or do you consider it a curse?  The Bible says in 1 Peter 4:16, "However if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed but praise God that you bear that name."  There have been so many times in my life that I did not consider it pure joy when I was suffering, but the one thing that makes me feel better is just worshipping God and realizing that I am too small for all of this, and He has a great plan and greater purpose.  It is hard to consider it pure joy.  Because when we think of pure joy, it seems like that "pure joy" is an earthly item.  Such as a raise, a new car, a new house, a new video game.  Really we should have pure joy in all circumstances, and situations.  Pure joy comes from God.
The thing we tend to forget lies in this very verse..." I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."-Philippians 4:13 Paul and Timothy want us to know that with that word everything, they mean everything.  No grey areas, it is everything.
So my brothers and sisters let us consider it pure joy when we little money and a lot of Jesus in our life.  Let us find joy in using our spiritual gift.  Please let us always give God the glory!  Find God in all circumstances, because He is there.

Bring Him Praise,
Kelsey
